The problem

Every team has a way of working. Few have ever drawn it.

  1. Ask five people of the same craft how they do the same thing and you get five different answers.

  2. When everyone’s process is different, nobody can learn from each other.

  3. Teams make dozens of small decisions without noticing, and rarely document them.

What’s in the pack

Everything you need to run the session yourself.

  • Miro template

    Miro

A layered map your team uses to visualise its own end-to-end workflow and where AI fits. Work runs left to right as the spine, with people, AI, context and decisions underneath.

  • Facilitator’s guide

    Guide

How to run the session with your team, step by step, from mapping the work to writing your first experiment cards.

  • PDF map

    PDF

The same map as a PDF, for printing or running the session offline.

Who it’s for

Built for the people who shape how teams work.

Team leads

A clear starting point for getting your team aligned on how you work with AI.

Design and product managers

A ready-made workshop you can run without designing one from scratch.

Heads of design and product

A way to pilot with two squads and see results before scaling.

How it works

One session. Four moves.

  1. Step 1

    Map the work

Lay out the steps your team takes, left to right. This becomes the spine of the map.

  2. Step 2

Layer on people, AI and context

Under each step, add who is involved, where AI is used and what information the work depends on.

  3. Step 3

Surface the decisions and inflection points

Note the decisions made along the way, then mark the moments where people, AI, context and decisions need to sync.

  4. Step 4

Pick one area and run an experiment together

Box one focus area and write experiment cards: what you’ll try, who leads, the timeframe, and how you’ll know it worked.

What you walk away with

A shared map, and one experiment the whole team owns.

Each session ends with experiment cards like this one, ready to start the next week.

Experiment card Example
What we’ll try
Review AI research synthesis together before concepts start, instead of each designer reading it alone.
Who leads
Research lead
Timeframe
Two sprints
How we’ll know
Fewer direction changes raised at critique.
